Obituary

Life story Gloria Jean (Smith) Hudson, 79, of Madison, passed away at the King's Daughters' Hospital on Friday, August, 4, 2006. She was born March 29, 1927, the daughter of the late Evelyn May (Phillips) and William Edward Smith in Madison. She was a 1946 graduate of Madison High School. She married Durward Eugene Hudson March 4, 1950. Mrs. Hudson was secretary at Morgan Packing Company for many years. She belonged to St. John's United Church of Christ and the Step by Step King's Daughters' Circle. She enjoyed dancing, especially clogging and the jitterbug. Mrs. Hudson is survived by two sisters Edna Doris Staples of Bedford, Kentucky, and Mary Ann Garrett of Madison; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends and neighbors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, William Edward Smith, Jr. and three nephews. The Reverend Ken Rodenberger will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Tuesday August 8, 2006 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel in Madison. Friends and family may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 10:00 AM until time of the services on Tuesday. Interment will follow at the Springdale Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. John's United Church of Christ Building Fund. Cards will be available at the funeral home.
