Life story Mr. Harold David Brown, age 59, of Hanover, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born August 9, 1946 in Hodgenville, Kentucky, the son of the late Dewey David and Emma Doc (Hawkins) Brown. Mr. Brown served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1981, when he retired from the Army Reserves as a Staff Sergeant. When he returned from active duty, he moved to Madison where he lived until 2001. He then moved to his current residence in Hanover. He worked for the Madison State Hospital for 10 years prior to his becoming employed with the Indiana-Kentucky Electric Corporation in 1978. He was promoted to unit supervisor in 1991, and was serving in that position at the time of his death. Mr. Brown was a member of the National Rifle Association and Jefferson Post #9, American Legion. He was a gun and knife collector and a NASCAR fan. Survivors include his wife, the former Barbara A. Burke, to whom he was married on September 4, 1965; one daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Greg Distel of Hanover; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jackie Brown of Madison; one sister, Dorothy Wells of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; one brother, Terry Brown of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; three grandchildren: Wesley Hackett, Dakota Brown and Kayla Burke; his father-in-law, King Solomon "Poppy" Burke; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Rusty. He was preceded in death by parents and his mother-in-law, Edna Burke. Pastor Billy K. Cloud will conduct funeral services at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 17, 2005 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 PM Friday, December 16, 2005 and from 9 AM until time of services on Saturday.
