Life story Mrs. Harriet Marie Wells, age 79, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the King's Daughters' Hospital. She was born on February 3, 1927 in Madison, the daughter of the late Roy and Mable (Perry) Inskeep. Mrs. Wells was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Madison, where she had served as church secretary and was a member the United Methodist Women's Organization. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, a charter member of the NAACP, Madison, once served on the Human Relations Committee for the City of Madison, and a former member of Jen-Era-Jeff Chapter #44, Order of the Eastern Star. She had been employed at The Madison Courier and Reliance Electric and was a 1945 graduate of the former Broadway High School. Among Mrs. Wells' interests were crocheting, avidly playing Bingo and spending time with her children. Survivors include two sons: Terence "Terry" Wells and David Wells, both of Madison; two daughters: Valerie (Wells) Murray of Madison, and Pamela Wells of Jeffersonville, Indiana; one brother, Edward Frank Inskeep of Madison; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren She was not only preceded in death by her parents, but by her husband, Joseph Wilson Wells, whom she married on February 4, 1947; one son, Joseph M. Wells; one brother, Herbert C. Inskeep; one sister, Virginia Louise Cosby; and one daughter-in-law, Kathy Wells. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Madison, with interment to follow in Springdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Friday, June 9 at Lytle Funeral Chapel and from 9 AM until services on Saturday at the church. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral chapel.
