Life story Mr. Harvey Junior Zearing, age 75, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born June 1, 1933 in Jefferson County, Indiana, the son of Harvey James and Adaline Keckley Zearing. Mr. Zearing was a graduate of the (former) Hanover High School and the Sullivan Business School. He served in the United States Army for more than ten years during the Korean and Viet Nam Conflicts. He was discharged with the rank of sergeant. During Mr. Zearing's life, he worked as a bricklayer and hod carrier for the River City Development Corporation in Louisville, and a security guard for Burns Security and Madison Precision Products for several years. He enjoyed flea markets, yard sales, Country Music, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, the former Judy Scott, to whom he was married on March 24, 1969 at the North Madison Christian Church; three daughters: Julie Earls and Margaret Zearing, both of Madison, and Mary Matthews of Milton, Kentucky; two sons: Harvey Howard Zearing of Indianapolis, Indiana and Matthew Zearing of Madison; one sister, Lou Frazier of Madison; one brother, Don Zearing of Madison; and twelve grandchildren: Jessica, Brittany and Charlie Earls, Johnathon Harvey and Kalynn Zearing, Rebecca Anderson, Courtney, Emilee and Ryker Matthews, and Michael, Lauren and Sarah Zearing. Mr. Zearing was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Margaret and Mary Ann Zearing, and Jeannette Goodin; and two brothers: Sam and James Zearing. Reverend Wayne Mahoney will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Springdale Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 18, and from 12:00 Noon until time of services on Wednesday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
