Obituary

Life story Mr. Heinz Ludwig Koop-Lampe, age 74, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at his home. He was born on October 19, 1932 in Diepholz, Germany, the son of Herta and Ludwig Zur Meuhlen. He grew up on his parent's farm in Dreeke, Germany. He took over the operation of the farm, which was a large farm, growing grain for producing their own brand of liquor from their commercial distillery. He eventually sold the farm and worked in Bremen, Germany in a textile mill. While he was in Dreeke, he was the fire chief and king of a German shooting club. He was a musician, having played flute and led the band for the shooting club. He was a excellent marksman having won numerous awards and medals at each shooting event. He moved to Madison in 1981 and worked for the Little King's Farm, Dicus Farm Implements, and ran the Swifty Service Station on State Road 62 in Madison for 16 years before his retirement. Mr. Koop-Lampe was raised a Lutheran. "If you can think of a yellow Jeep, a Schwinn bike and red suspenders, that's Heinz", says his long-time friend, Jinx. He enjoyed a good Beck's beer and Jagermeister, talking to his friends and being an "Opa" to his two United States grandsons, Steven and T.C. He had numerous interests, including bird watching, loved nature, riding in his Old Willys Jeep. Heinz was a unique man. Survivors include one daughter, Brunhild Koop-Lampe and her husband, Robert; his daughter-in-law, Christiane Koop-Lampe; one grandson, Hendrick Koop-Lampe; one sister, Inge Koop-Meyer and her husband, Theo, and two nephews, Klaus and Uwe Koop-Meyer, all of Drebber, Germany; his former step-son, Jerry Marshall and family of Jefferson County, Indiana; and his long-time friend and partner, Jinx White and family of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anni Koop-Lampe; and one son, Heinrich. No services are planned. His cremated remains will be sent to Germany for burial. Jinx requests that a note be sent to the family through the Lytle Funeral Chapel website (lytlefuneralchapel.com) expressing condolences with a thought of any interaction they had with Heinz, or with any thoughts of him they would like to express.
