Obituary

Life story Mr. J. Howard Pearson, age 100, of Hanover, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover. Born December 17, 1911 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Fred J. and Minnie E. Stover Pearson. Mr. Pearson graduated from a high school in Granite City, Illinois and attended the University of Cincinnati. He was a mechanical engineer and vice-president and plant manager for the Williamson Company from 1952, when he moved to Madison, until his retirement in 1976. His memberships included the Hanover Presbyterian Church, the ROTC while in college, Madison Rotary Club (formerly), the McMilken Society of the University of Cincinnati, and the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a Kentucky Colonel and worked for the American Red Cross during the Ohio River flood of 1932. He loved gardening and yard work. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Diane and David Gallaher of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Elaine and Walt Morrill of Hanover; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, the former Eugenia J. "Gene" Turner, who passed away on April 16, 2001 and to whom he was married on November 27, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana; one granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Collins on November 1, 2008; one brother and two sisters. Mr. Pearson bequeathed his body to the University of Cincinnati Medical School. Memorial services will be conducted by the Reverend Katrina Pekich-Bundy at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Hanover Presbyterian Church, Hanover, Indiana. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Hanover Presbyterian Church or Girls, inc. of Jefferson County. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
