Life story Jacqueline Hereford Thacker, age 63, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at her residence after a courageous fight with cancer. Born June 26, 1950 in Madison, she was the daughter of Jack A. and Delsie (Richmond) Hereford. She was a 1968 graduate of Southwestern High School in Hanover, and attended Indiana State University. While in high school, she was involved in many activities and volunteered her time to many different organizations. She lived most of her early life in Madison working in her family's businesses. She also worked for Sears Roebuck, travelling throughout the Midwest. For many years she managed rental properties in Lafayette, Indiana and Kissimmee, Florida and retired in 2012 as a manager for American Rental in several of their locations. She was actively involved in the Madison Regatta, continuing a family tradition of volunteering; enjoyed Nascar and college basketball and football, especially Purdue and Florida State universities. She loved traveling, gardening, her pets, and spending time on the lake with her grandson, Jackson. Survivors include one son, Brent Thacker and his fianc, Lindsey of Madison; one grandson, Jackson Thacker; and several aunts uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father on April 28, 1991; her mother, on February 6, 2011; and one sister, Patricia Hereford on October 8, 2010. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Our Hospice of Jennings County in North Vernon.
