Obituary

Life story James B. Crooks, age 79, of Madison, Indiana passed away at 5:13 PM on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at his home. Born February 27, 1927, in Grayville, Illinois, he was the son of the late Burnice M. and Edith (Banks) Crooks. He was also preceded in death by a sister. He was married to Maxine L. on March 22, 1947. They moved to Madison in 1961. Mr. Crooks retired from Meese Incorporated in the maintenance department and at one time was a transmission mechanic in Louisville and an automobile salesman in New Albany. He was U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and loved hunting and fishing. In his younger years he spent time boxing and driving a midget race car. Survivors include, his wife; two sons, Rick Crooks and Mark A. Crooks, both of Madison; and three grandchildren, Christopher Crooks, Annette Hawk, and Candace Crooks. Gerry Sandusky conducted memorial services at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 19, 2006, at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association.
