Life story Mr. James F. Leineweber, age 87, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison. He was born on February 13, 1923 in Canaan, Indiana, the son of Frank and Clara Vawter Leineweber. Mr. Leineweber served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He completed forty years of service as a security office at the former Jefferson Proving Ground, retiring in 1987. He then worked for a time as a clerk with the former Rental Mart in Madison. His hobbies included gardening, fishing and enjoying IU basketball. Survivors include his wife, the former Rose Anne Metzger, to whom he was married on October 11, 1951; two sons: Mike Leineweber and his wife, Laura, and Mark Leineweber, all of Madison; one daughter, Linda Leineweber of Madison; two sisters: Betty Tucker and Gertrude "Trudy" Cousins, both of Florida; two grandsons: Jason Leineweber of Scottsburg, Indiana and Jared Leineweber of Madison; and his cat companion, Lucky. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Harley, Robert and Graham Leineweber; and two sisters: Ruby Louden and Lillian Courtney. The Reverend Jerry Wheeler will conduct funeral services in the Chapel at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 29, 2010. The Honor Guard from Jefferson Post #9, American Legion, will conduct military services there, and interment will follow at the cemetery. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Animal Shelter in Madison. Memorial cards are available at the Lytle Funeral Chapel.
