Life story On the morning of March 24, 2016 The Lord Jesus Christ called for Jean Leslie (Tyree) Burton to enter into the joy of The Lord. Jean being a faithful servant answered Yes Lord. Born April 3, 1951 to Francis Leslie and Eva Vaughn Tyree in Louisville Kentucky. Jean was the only child, however she was raised with a host of cousins that were more like brothers and sisters to her. After she graduated from Seneca High School in Louisville, KY, Jean was accepted and decided to attend Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. She later met and soon married "Greyhound" better known as Kenneth Alan Burton on May 19, 1970. Through their love they were blessed to have four children Kenneth Burton Jr. (deceased) Keith Burton, Brian Burton (Jason) and Kelle Burton. Also cherishing the memory of Jean are Jason Scott of Greensboro who was faithful until the end, mother in law Ruth Burton, Aunts Agnes Houseal of Louisville, KY, Ogretta McNeil of Worcester, MA and many family and friends. January 1981 Jean made the declaration by the words of her mouth that The Lord Jesus Christ is and will be Lord over her and her family's life. She was saved and entered into her true calling which was to be a child of God through faith in the only true and living God Jesus Christ. Jean furthered her faith under the leadership of Bishop and Mother Sadler. Jean adored worship and often participated in ushering the people of Christ Church into the presence of the Lord. Jean was a former health care educator for the City of Mount Vernon, NY. She worked with the Minority HIV and AIDS task force under the Bill Clinton Administration. Later in her retirement Jean and Kenny retired in the community of Trinity Lake in Greensboro NC, where she served on the board faithfully. Jean leaves behind her two beloved grandchildren Joshua and Halle. They will carry on her spirit of love and servitude. Jean is now with the general assembly and church of the first born which are written in heaven partaking of the Tree of Life. With God The Judge of all and the spirits of just men made perfect. Well done good and faithful servant! A Celebration of Life Service for Jean will be 2:00pm Thursday, March 31, 2016 in the Chapel of George Brothers Funeral Home, 803 Greenhaven Dr, Greensboro, NC 27406 with Pastor Josh Gresham. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Springdale Cemetery, where her parents are buried. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Trailhead Church 554 W. Moore Street, Graham, NC 27253.
