Obituary

Life story Mr. John G. McAlister, age 74, of Commiskey, Indiana, formerly of Madison, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. Born January 2, 1935 in Trimble County, Kentucky, he was the son of Dell W. and Virginia Murphy McAlister. Mr. McAlister moved to Madison in 1958 from Carrollton, Kentucky. He worked for forty-three years as a welder for the former Williamson Company (now Armor Metal) until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the North Madison Baptist Church, and a former member of the Madison Moose Lodge. His family said he was an avid bowler. Survivors include two daughters: Debbie Myers of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Kay Shipman and her husband, Jess, of Madison; two sons: Darrell McAlister and his wife, Nancy, and Damon McAlister, all of Madison; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Frank and Sheryllynn McAlister of New Albany, Indiana, and William "Sug" and Betty Sue McAlister of Goshen, Kentucky; his companion, Eleanor Malbomb of Commiskey; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his companion's children: Nancy Helt and her husband, Randy, and their two children, and Larry Malcomb and his wife, Darla, and their three children. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dennis McAlister in 1995; two sisters: Louise Bickers and Virgie McAlister; and four brothers: Raymond, Delmar, Don and Wayne "Ike" McAlister. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in the Carrollton I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Carrollton, Kentucky. Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday, June 16, 2009 and from 9 AM until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. The family requests contributions in memory of John G.
