Life story Mr. John D. Petrakos, 56, of Madison passed away Friday, July 29, 2005. He was born on Friday, September 17, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Della (Pickett) Petrakos. He retired from the US Navy March 1, 1991, having served from 1973-1991 as a DPCS. He also served from 1966-1970 in the US Air Force as a sergeant. After retirement from the Navy he went to work at Dow Corning, retiring a few years ago. He was a member of American Legion, Jefferson Post #9. He loved riding his Harley Davidson and enjoyed spending time with his extended biker family. He is survived by two daughters and two grandchildren: Daughter-Shanai Petrakos and her daughter, Addysen Hendrick of Louisville, KY and Daughter-Ashlie Petrakos and her son, Drew Hayden of Madison, IN; his mother, Della Petrakos of Hanover, IN; two sisters, Darlene Roberts and her family of Vevay, IN, and Ingrid Peters and her family of Vevay, IN; and his extended biker family. The Reverend Robert Leach will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Monday August 1, 2005 with burial to follow at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The Honor Guard of the American Legion, Jefferson Post #9 will perform military funeral honors at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Friends and family may gather from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Lytle Funeral Chapel and on Monday August 1, 2005 from 10:00 AM until time of service.
