Life story Mr. Joseph W. Braun, age 59, of Deputy, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born January 13, 1954 in Saint Louis, Missouri, he was the son of Maurice D. and Betty (Jackson) Braun. Mr. Braun moved to Madison in 1968 from Illinois. He graduated from Madison Consolidated High School in 1972 and began a thirty-six year career with the former Reliance Electric Company. After its closure in 2007, he worked for Asian USA in Seymour and Century Tube, Madison, retiring in 2009. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, raising goats, cows and chickens, woodworking, and spoiling his grandchildren and his dog, Stella. Survivors include his wife, the former Kathy L. Smith, to whom he was married on December 13, 1983 in Madison; one step-daughter, Lisa Geyman and her husband, Travis of Madison; his mother, Betty Augenstein of Warrensburg, Illinois; one brother, David Braun and his wife, Janiece of Warrensburg; one half-sister, Lisa Propster of California; two grandchildren: Tiana Wells and Leiana Geyman; one niece, Alea Propster-Neal and her husband, David; three nephews: Joseph Braun and his wife, Gina and Pat Braun and his wife, Amy, and Aaron Propster; one great niece, Callie; and two great nephews, Calin and Jak. He was preceded in death by his father in June 1987; his step-father, Wayne Augenstein in 2003; and grandparents, George Merritt, James T. and Vera Jackson, and John and Katy (Hoyle) Braun.
