Juanita Ann "Sis" Kidd Jumps, age 97, of Madison, Indiana died on Sunday, January 26, 2025. She was born September 30, 1927 in Monroe Township, Jefferson County (in what became the Jefferson Proving Ground), to parents John Kidd and Cora Milton Kidd. She attended Oak Dale School in Monroe Township, and later moved to Madison and attended Muncie Elementary and Junior High School. She worked in several restaurants and the Economy Dry Cleaner. Juanita was married to William Charles Jumps by Reverend Plew on May 3, 1944 in Madison. Bill left for the United States Navy for three years, and later they moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. She worked at Greenwood Elementary School as a custodian and also worked for Model Engineering Tool and Die. Bill and Juanita moved back to Madison and she worked for Grote Industries. They were both members of the First Christian Church of Hanover, Indiana. Bill passed away on August 23, 1998 after 54 years of marriage. She was a member of the American Legion Post 9. She enjoyed bingo, gardening, camping, fishing, traveling, being with family and friends, and volunteering at the Red Cross Blood Drives. Survivors include her sister-in-law: Sally Kidd, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cora Kidd; her husband, Bill Jumps; her brothers: Clyde (Mable) Kidd, John Kidd, and George Allen Kidd; her sisters: Margaret (Jim) Koontz, Dorothy (Orval) Wells, Ruth (Raymond) Smith, Wilma (Allen) Stewart, Anna (Norman) Smithers, and Mary Helen (Bob) Willhoite; her mother-in-law: Myrta Aldridge; and her sisters-in-law: Margie Logsdon, Anna Margaret Anderson, and Norma Corkhill. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 30, 2025 at Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison, with interment to follow in Bayless Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 AM Thursday, January 30, 2025 until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to any organization of your choice.
