Life story Kenneth Elmer Schomaker, 84, of Madison, Indiana passed away on March 1, 2019 at River Terrace Health Campus. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was a 1953 graduate of Shady Side Academy in Pennsylvania, a 1957 graduate of Wesleyan University in Connecticut and a 1960 graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia. He was ordained to the Episcopal Priesthood in 1961. He served in parishes in Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Indiana and served as Chaplain with the Indiana Department of Corrections at Plainfield Correctional Facility from 1986-2000. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Madison. He enjoyed writing prose and poetry and painting from wildlife and photos. He and Dianne most enjoyed riding and walking with their dog, Goldie, at Clifty Falls State Park. He is survived by his wife, (Mary) Dianne Hill, of Madison to whom he was married in 1987. He is survived also by his children Amy Welter, Timothy Schomaker, Steven Schomaker, Daniel Schomaker and Andrea Liberto; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lee Schomaker and Rick Schomaker, and sister, Linda Y. Atkins. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 am.
