Life story Leonard Humes, age 87, of Lexington,Indiana passed away on Friday, March 3, 2006 at the hanover Nursing Center. Born February 7, 1919, in Hanover, Indiana, he was the son of Eugene & Barbara (Saunders) Humes, whom preceded him in death. Mr. Humes, retired in 1985 from the Madison State Hospital, where he had worked for 20 years as an attendant . He was also a farmer for many years, a veteran of World War II and a member of the Eureka Lodge #30 of the F. & A.M. He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. Survivors include, his wife, of 60 years, Jeneva (Cosby) Humes, four daughters Darlene (Tom) Kerby of Carmel, Indiana, Colette Leanne (Eartha) Thomas of Louisville, Kentucky, Valerie Lynn (Roy) Wiley of Louisville, Kentucky and Mary (Keith) Coleman of Wallkill, New York; two sons, Wayne D. Cosby of Hanover and Barry (Nanci) Humes of Jeffersonville; and one brother Melvin Humes o f Hanover; twelve Grandchildren and eight Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Pearl Bohanon and Hazel Smith and one brother Horace Humes. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 9, 2006, at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Friends and family may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 8, 2006 and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, March 9, 2006. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses. Memorial Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
