Life story Lester "Gene" E. Bitzel, age 73, of Madison, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born March 29, 1943 in Wabash, Indiana, he was the son of Betty Louise (Bitzel) Kinney. Mr. Bitzel was an UPS truck driver for thirty-three years in Indianapolis, Indiana. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, watching the HOME Shopping Network, traveling in his motorhome to Georgetown, Florida, and the race cars in Indianapolis. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Dewana Boyett of Buckeye, Arizona; two sons, Tim Bitzel of Indianapolis and Brian Bitzel of Ogden, Utah; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother; one son, Jeff Bitzel; and one sister, Linda Stormer. A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremations Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison.
