Life story Lester W. Hatchell, Sr., age 79, of Hanover, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Hanover Heath and Rehab Center, Hanover. Born June 4, 1937 in Madison, Indiana, he was the son of Clarence F. and Pauline J. Watkins Hatchell. Mr. Hatchell served in the United States Army and attained the rank of Private before his honorable discharge on September 26, 1960. He was employed by Grote Manufacturing as a fork-lift operator for thirty-eight years before his retirement in 2005. In his younger days, he worked for The Madison Courier newspaper. He was a member of the Milton, Kentucky, Christian Church, and enjoyed listening to the Glenn Miller Band, watching westerns and wrestling on TV, and taking walks and driving by the Ohio River. He will be sadly missed by three daughters: Penny Chadwell of Hanover, Cheryl Leonard and her husband, Jay of Madison, and Tracy Johnson and her husband, Greg of Lexington, Indiana; one son, Lester Hatchell, Jr. of Hanover; one brother and sister-in-law, Leland and Pat Hatchell of New Albany, Indiana; one sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Barry Sanders of Louisville, Kentucky; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, the former Reva Lou Taylor on April 19, 2011, and to whom he was married on August 16, 1963 in Madison; two brothers: Clarence and Leo Hatchell; and one sister, Velma Haak. Funeral services will be held at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Milton Christian Church.
