Obituary

Life story Lillian Lucille Black, age 86, of Hanover, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born March 7, 1929 in Hanover, the daughter of John and Evelyn (Quirin) Warman. Mrs. Black was a 1947 graduate of Hanover High School, who are known as the "Golden Grads" and who meet for a reunion each year. She worked for the former Samples Ice Cream Store in Madison for three and one-half years early in life. She was named the 1947 Miss Madison beauty pageant winner, and helped cut the ribbon to free the Madison-Milton Bridge in 1947 with June Hereford, who was Miss Milton. Mrs. Black married Robert Black on December 24, 1950, whom she met at an eighth grade picnic. They moved to Greenwood, Indiana and lived there for thirty-five years. After retirement, she and her husband lived in Oregon and California for twenty-five years, returning to Hanover in August of this year. She was a forty-five year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #390, and the Phi Beta Psi Sorority, both in Greenwood. Survivors include her husband of sixty-five years; one daughter, Kathy Black of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister, Betty Adams of Hanover; two grandchildren: Robert Saunders of San Jose, California and Pamela Saunders of Champaign, Illinois; and three nephews: Kenny, Tony and Jerry Adams, all of Hanover. Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents. The Reverend Scott Hookey will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 5, 2015 at Lytle Funeral Homes, Vail Chapel on Michigan Road, Madison, with interment to follow in Sharon Hill Cemetery, Lexington, Indiana. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 PM Monday, January 4 and from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Tuesday.
