Life story Lucille M. Niesse Imel, age 88, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. She was born June 17, 1919 in Madison, the daughter of George J. and Margaret L. (Foltz) Niesse. Mrs. Imel graduated in 1933 from the 8th grade at the former Saint Mary's School, where she had started first grade in 1925. She attended the former Saint Mary's Business College and graduated in 1935. Not having yet reached the age of 16, her father sent her back to business school for more study and review. In August 1946, a call came from the Jefferson County Court House regarding a job with the County Agents' office. She accepted that position and worked there for two years. She then moved to the Madison Clerk/Treasurers' office where she worked until January 1943. Following her governmental positions, she moved to the private sector and worked for the former First National Bank from January 1943 to January 1960. She then returned to the Madison Clerk/Treasurers office and remained there until her retirement in October 1977. Her memberships a lifelong membership in the Saint Mary's Catholic Church (now Prince of Peace Catholic Church) where she was also a member of the Ladies Organization of Prince of Peace and the Legion of Mary Auxiliary Organization, and the Daughters' of Isabella since 1937. Survivors include several nieces and nephews: Susan Barber, Sara Daniels, Ann Weber, Janes Myers, Joanne Lawler, Roanne Lewis, Nancy Hasecuster, Mary Jane Plymate, Ida Rork, Donald McCauley, Phil McCauley, Steve Niesse, Robert Weaver, and Terry Simmons. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard S. "Joe" Imel on March 21,1985 and to whom she was married on March 26, 1938; one infant son, Bernard S. Imel, Jr.; four sisters: Margaret Weaver, Florence Simmons, Ida L. McCauley, and Luella Niesse; and three brothers: George, Henry and Louis Niesse. The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by Father John Meyer at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, with interment to follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 PM today, and from 12:00 Noon until 1:00PM on Wednesday. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Friends of Shawe and Pope John Schools, or Prince of Prince Catholic Church. Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
