Obituary

Lurie Allen Cason, 94 of N. Fort Myers, Florida, previously of Deputy, Indiana, died November 19, 2023 in New Albany, Indiana. He was born February 27, 1929 in Geneva, Ala., the son of Lurie Woodfin and Catherine (Hammond) Cason. He was a retired electrician where he worked for 20+ years, prior to that he worked at Pine Island Fish Co. for 20+ years, prior to that Lurie was a Commercial Fisherman on Pine Island, where He Fished, Crabbed, Shrimped, Scalloped, Oystered and Clamed For a living, and at one time, Lurie worked on a dredge in the early days of the development of Cape Coral, he moved from Tampa, Florida to Lee County in the early 1950's. He served in United States Army Air Force from 1946 - 1949 spending one year on Shemya Island Alaska, the rest of the time in Strategic Air Command (S.A.C.). He was proceeded in death by his wife Virginia Ann (Henderson) Cason of 61 years; three brothers Alcus, Wayland, Delano and one sister Nelda Wood. Lurie is survived by two sons, Kenneth in Indiana, and Lloyd in Bokeelia, Fl. And two daughters, Linda in Kentucky and Nancy in Missouri, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Private services will be held at Lytle Welty Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Madison, Indiana.
