Obituary

Life story Mrs. Lyda Mae Chance, age 88, of Hanover, Indiana passed away on Saturday September 1, 2007 at her residence in Hanover. She was born on May 21, 1919 in Huntington, Tennessee, the daughter of William Thomas and Minnie Ora (Baker) Smith. She was married to her husband, Ray Chance on June 19, 1937. Mrs. Chance graduated from Tribble High School in Waverly, Tennessee, moved to Chelsea, Indiana with her husband in 1950 and she moved to Hanover in 1993. She was a homemaker, a member of the North Madison Church of Christ and Saluda Homemakers Club. She collected antiques and owned her own antique shop for 13 years. She loved dogs, especially her Boston Terriers, Caesar and Cripper, who predeceased her. She was well traveled and gave a lot of her time volunteering for among others, the Red Cross Blood Bank. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Albanie LaMothe of Madison; her son and daughter-in-law, William Terry and Debbie Chance of Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren: Jessica Lynn Edens of Kissimmee, Florida, Linda Stacy and her husband, Sheldon of Madison, Stacy Wells and her husband, Josh of Madison, Matthew Chance and his wife, LeAnne of Tennessee; Robert LaMothe and his wife, Jennie of Fort Thomas, Ohio, and Dennis LaMothe and his wife, Michelle of Milton, Kentucky; 10 great-grandchildren: Paul, Candy, Kierra, Tayran, Rashan, Mia, Noah, Kate, Coleman, and Loren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on March 17, 1978, and a brother, Wadell Smith in 2006. The Reverend Gerry Sandusky will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday September 5, 2007 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel with a private family committal service to follow. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 9 AM until time of services on Wednesday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
