Life story Mrs. Mabel Dunaway Turner, formerly of Madison, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2004 at her residence in Louisville, Kentucky. Born in Jefferson County, Indiana she was the daughter of William and Nina Brook Dunaway, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Turner worked as the secretary for the late Herman C. Yater, who was the office manager for Public Service Indiana (now known as Cinergy) for many years. She worked later as a senior clerk until her retirement. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #1969, the Women of the Moose and was a lifetime member of the Goodwill Conservation Club, all of Madison. Survivors include her daughter, Joan Welsh of Louisville; one grandson, Dennis Welsh of Tiburon, California; one granddaughter, Dana Creech of Louisville; two great grandsons; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, her husband, Herbert Ray Turner, one sister, Edna Gunter and one brother, Oscar Dunaway, preceded Mrs. Turner in death. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. EST Saturday, September 18, 2004 in the Chapel of Grandview Memorial Gardens, with burial to follow in Grandview. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 17, 2004 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. The family requests contributions in memory of Mrs. Turner be made to the American Lung Association of Indiana.
