Obituary

Life story Marcella Clara Hoffman, age 100, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the Waters of Clifty Falls. Born July 23, 1912 in Madison, she was the daughter of Matthew, Sr. and Clara (Hunger) Hoffman. Miss Hoffman was a graduate of Madison High School and the former Saint Mary's Business School. She worked for several local businesses during her career, including the former John Knoebel and Son Men's Store, Nancy Lee and Little Folks Shops, and the Plaza Shop. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and its Ladies Organization, the National Council of Catholic Women, Daughters' of Isabella, and the Legion of Mary. Survivors include four brothers: John Hoffman, Joseph Hoffman, and Clement Hoffman,, all of Madison, and Maurice Hoffman of Milton, Kentucky; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Robert, Herman and Matthew J. Hoffman. The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, with interment to follow in Saint Patrick Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 9: 00 to 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Friends of Shawe and Pope John Schools. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
