Obituary

Life story Mr. Marvin F. Hierlmeier, age 84, of Madison, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2007 at the Hanover Nursing Center in Hanover, Indiana. He was born on September 6, 1922 in Medford, Wisconsin, the son of William and Rose (Kapfhamer) Hierlmeier. Mr. Hierlmeier was a Navy veteran of World War II, having been discharged in 1946 with the rank of Metalsmith Third Class. He moved to Madison in 1960, working for Rexnord in management, and later retired from there. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Hielmeier could be seen around Madison with his pet, an African Serval named "Hush." He enjoyed bringing the animal downtown and walking on Main Street with him. They also entertained the residents at area nursing homes on numerous occasions. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Caudill of Powell, Ohio; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Alice Hierlmeier of North Judson, Indiana; five grandchildren: Nathan and Grant Hierlmeier, Lucas, Erin, and Justin Caudill, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa C. "Gracie" Hierlmeier on May 6, 1992; one brother, Chester Heirlmeier, and one sister, Lina Moravchik. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Meyer at 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church on State Street in Madison. Friends and family will call from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday, February 13 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, where the Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Entombment will be on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at the Wisconsin Memorial Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Friends of Shawe and Pope John Schools, or the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
