Obituary

Life story Mrs. Mary Jane Bear, age 75, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2007 at her residence. She was born on June 21, 1931 in Corydon, Indiana, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Elizabeth (Cruft) Sauley. Mrs. Bear graduated from Madison High School in 1949, and Indiana University Southeast in Jeffersonville, Indiana in 1972 with a degree in nursing. She retired as a nurse from the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Madison Chautauqua Festival of Art. Survivors include her husband, Dr. William H. Bear, whom she married on May 28, 1952; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Danna and Larry Ferguson of Madison; four sons: David E. Bear and his wife, Ada of Madison, Michael W. Bear and his wife, Joni of Madison; Grant M. Bear and his wife, Kim of McLean, Virginia, and Chris A. Bear of Great Falls, Montana; one sister, Norma Cranford Casey of Fairfax, Virginia; thirteen grandchildren: Jeffrey, Julie, Jaman, and Mary Ferguson, Sam and Abe Bear, Emily, Joseph and Katherine Bear, Alicia Goebel-Bear and Joshua, Libbe and Lindsey Bear. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Jeffrey S. Bear in 1973. Funeral services will be conducted by Reverend Don Bradley at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 15, 2007 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, February 14, 2007, and after 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Jeffrey S. Bear Memorial Scholarship Fund at Madison Consolidated High School. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
