Life story Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Florian, age 89, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison. Born September 24, 1924, in Woodford County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of James T. and Nancy (Newton) League. Mrs. Florian was a graduate of Midway High School in Midway, Kentucky. She was a member of the West Madison United Methodist Church, a homemaker, and loved and cared for her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Allen Watson of Madison; one sister, Loula L. Lippert of Versailles, Kentucky; two grandchildren: Christopher Watson and his wife, Jennifer, and Stephanie Stewart and her husband, Andrew; three great grandchildren: Jordyn and Harper Watson and Lincoln Stewart; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Lewis Florian on December 21, 1998, and to whom she was married on April 2, 1947 in Frankfort, Kentucky; seven sisters: Josie League, Mamie League, Sally Privett, Martha League, Ellen Meisner, Minnie Wise and Carolyn McDonald; and six brothers: James, Preston, George, Matthew, Alexander and Chandler League. The Reverend Evelyn Wheeler will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, March 13, 2014 and from 10 to 11 AM Friday at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Community Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County for the Lide White Boys and Girls Club or Girls, Inc.
