Life story Maxine A. Lang, age 86 of Centreville, Michigan, and formerly of Madison, died Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at her home following a long illness. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on April 2, 1923, the daughter of Walter James and Alice Hilda (Kessler) Morris. Following high school, Maxine served in the U.S. Army before attending Indiana University. Mrs. Lang was married to Robert Salesman in California. He was killed while serving his country during World War II. She later moved to Michigan where she met and married George Lang in Three Rivers on Nov. 22, 1958. They resided together in Mendon and Centreville until his death in 1998. She worked for many years at the St. Joseph County Health Department and later was a teacher at the Nottawa School. She was an avid reader and attended the Centreville Baptist Church. Mrs. Lang is survived by four children: Rosemary Fieselman and her husband Darrel, and Lucille Lang, both of Kalamazoo, Michigan; John Lang and his wife, Helen of Mendon, and James Lang, and his wife, Marcia of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Helen Morris of New Albany, Indiana; and a niece, Ann. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a grandson, Keith Lang; and a nephew, Steve Morris. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon, Michigan. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time of services. Interment will follow in Monroe Cemetery, Madison, where the Honor Guard from Jefferson Post #9, American Legion will conduct military honors. Memorials may be directed to the Madison-Jefferson County Humane Society.
