Life story Mrs. Maymie L. Griffin, age 99, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at her residence. Born April 27, 1914 in Trimble County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Rollie and Angie (Marsh) Handlon. Mrs. Griffin moved to Madison with her family at the age of nine. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her flower garden, watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Days of Our Lives on television. Survivors include five daughters: Helen Boldery of Bedford, Kentucky, Georgine Neal of Kent, Indiana, Margaret Geyman of Madison, Tulsa Everett of Florida, and Ruby Miracle of Austin, Indiana; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Griffin on March 19, 1991; three sons: James Higgins, Ronald Higgins and Everett Griffin; five brothers and four sisters. The Reverend Randy Crutchfield will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Springdale Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday, November 20, 2013 and from 10 AM to 11 AM Thursday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Gardens Program or the American Cancer Society. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
