Life story Michael S. Smith, age 73, of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at The Waters of Scottsburg in Scottsburg, Indiana. Born November 23, 1944 in Boise, Idaho, he was the son of Leonard D and Kathryn M. (Wentworth) Smith. Mr. Smith was a graduate of Shawe Memorial High School and a Realtor. Additionally, he had been employed for the former Arbuckle car dealership in Scottsburg, Rexnord in Madison, and was a caregiver. His memberships include Jefferson Post #9, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post # 1969, the National Rifle Association, and the Arabian horses organization. He enjoyed breeding Arabian Horses, golf and riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He was a military veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He will be sadly missed by one daughter, Michelle Anderson and her companion, James White, of Sparta, Kentucky; one son: Michael Smith of Orlando, Florida; one brother: Leonard Smith of Osgood, Indiana; two sisters: Susan Heritage and her husband, Ken of Madison, and Kathy Braun of Deputy, Indiana; two grandchildren: Rick Anderson and Andrew White; and one great grandchild, Echo Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Johnny, Kenny, and Wayne Smith. Memorial services will be conducted at 12:00 PM Friday, October 5, 2018 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, on Madison's hilltop.
