Life story Mrs. Mildred L. Armstrong, age 83, formerly of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at the Jennings County Medical Center in North Vernon, Indiana. Born March 9, 1922 in New Albany, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Ruth Norington Woelflin. She married John B. Armstrong July 6, 1946. Mrs. Armstrong worked at Camp Atterbury, Indiana during World War II, and then retired in 1985 from the former Jefferson Proving Ground. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, an avid reader and loved to walk. Mrs. Armstrong is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Richard and Cindy Armstrong of Madison, and Col. Jim and Terry Armstrong of Manassas, Virginia; one daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Harry Palmer of North Vernon; three sisters: Gladys Sieveking of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ida Mae Stewart of Scottsburg, Indiana and Lenora Lori of Bear Foot Bay, Florida; seven grandchildren: Tom, Brian, Todd, Stephanie, Michael, Erin and Alynza; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Armstrong on March 12, 1976, and one sister, Dorothea Maupin. The Reverend Ken Schomaker will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in the Brooksburg Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 10:00 AM until time of service on Saturday.
