Life story Mrs. Mildred S. Davis, age 83, formerly of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at the residence of her son in McDonald, Ohio. Born October 25, 1922 in Bristolville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Frederick and Cora Sophia (Schneider) Seeman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Courtland Van Horn Davis, Jr., whom she married on March 4, 1944, and all of her brothers and sisters. Mrs. Davis was the secretary for the Jefferson County United Fund from 1962-1969 and secretary for the Kind's Daughters' Hospital from 1969 until her retirement in 1988. She was a proficient knitter, providing handmade afghans to many charities. Survivors include her son, Courtland V. Davis, III of McDonald, Ohio; three daughters: Peggy Davis Frick of Nashville, Tennessee, Linda Davis Stratford of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Leslie Davis Gill of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor John Armstrong at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 27, 2006 at Lytle Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Courtland Davis Student Loan Fund at Ivy Tech State College. Cards are available at the funeral chapel.
