Life story Mrs. Mildred L. Hertz, age 97, of Madison, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2012 at her residence. Born March 22, 1914 in Madison, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Opal Kessler Poindexter. Mrs. Hertz was a graduate of Madison High School, and a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. In her younger years, she was an avid golfer at the former Madison Country Club. Survivors include two daughters: Dee Hertz of Madison and Judy Hertz Hornaday of Zionsville, Indiana; one son: Bill Hertz and his wife, Carol of Madison; two sisters: Ziddy Matthews of Madison, and Mary Greathouse of North Vernon, Indiana; four grandchildren: Jan Hornaday and her husband, Brett Brewer, David Hornaday and his wife, Sharon, Dr. Kelli Hertz and Carrie Hertz; four great grandchildren: Will Brewer, Charlie Brewer, Marykate Hornaday and Kayleigh Hornaday; and several nieces and nephews. The Reverend Chris Craig will celebrate The Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, with interment to follow in Springdale Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday, January 4 and from 9:00 to 10:30 AM Thursday. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Wednesday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
