Obituary

Life story Myrtle Vogel Sandberg, age 84, of Madison, passed away on Monday, August 13, 2007 at the Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was born on August 29, 1922 in Batavia, Illinois, to Max and Marie Zirchler Vogel, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Sandberg was a retired secretary for the Dukane Corporation and Farm Bureau in Saint Charles, Illinois, before moving to Madison in 1995. She was a member of the Lilly Lake, Illinois Lutheran Church, where she was very active in the church council, and loved to read, knit, sew and complete Crossword puzzles. Mrs. Sandberg is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marie "Mitzy" and Donnie Gassert of Hanover; one son and daughter-in-law, Cliff and Jeri Sandberg of West Richland, Washington; one sister, Mariam Horst of Glen Arm, Maryland; four grandchildren: Jack Sandberg and his wife, Maribel, Jake Sandberg and his wife, Alexandria, Miranda Wentworth and her husband, Todd, and Joshua Gassert; and three great grandchildren: Weston and Pierce Wentworth and Cliff Sandberg. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence "Sandy" Sandberg on June 16, 1999, and to whom she was married in 1948; one brother, Charles Vogel; and two sisters: Louise Johnson and Maxine Bartholomew. The Reverend A. Franklyn Brooks will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 16, 2007 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Springdale Cemetery. Friends and family may call at Lytle Funeral Chapel from 9:30 to 11:00 AM Thursday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Unit of the Hanover Nursing Center or the Hospice Beds of the Sub-Acute Unit at Clark Memorial Hospital.
