Nancy Ann
(Smitley) Spivey
November 4, 1946 – December 5, 2023
Nancy Ann Spivey, age 77, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Earl and Wanda (Davis) Smitley, was born November 4, 1946, in Madison. She graduated from Madison Consolidated High School in 1965. She was united in matrimony to Louis C. Spivey on April 9, 1973 at Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a secretary for Meyers and Sons for 25 years, unit secretary for King's Daughters' Hospital for 10 years, and retired from Jay-C Store Deli. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Friends of the Madison Jefferson County Library and a former Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed counted crossstich, latchhook, embroidery, having won several awards in the Open Class at the 4-H Fair. She also liked to read and watch TV loudly without commercials. Mrs. Spivey passed away December 5, 2023 at River Terrace Health Campus in Madison. Her life will be cherished by her daughter: Louise Everhart and her husband, Shawn of Hanover; her sister: Donna Smitley, of Madison; her brothers: James Smitley, of Lexington, and Billy Smitley, of Hanover; her sister-in-law, Joan Poe and her husband, Paul of Bedford, Kentucky; her grandchild, Hunter Tristan Louis Everhart; her two step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her brothers: Melvin Smitley, Kenneth Wayne Smitley and David Smitley; and a special aunt, Anita Davis. Pastor Mike Straub will conduct memorial services at 3:00 PM Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the New Heart Church of God, 449 Megan Lane, Madison. Friends and family may gather at the New Heart Church of God from 1:30 PM until the time of the service on Saturday. Interment will take place in Springdale Cemetery at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Hunter Everhart College Fund. Contributions may be made at Lytle Welty Funeral Home, the church, or below.
