Life story Mrs. Norma J. Walburn , age 93, of Hanover, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born April 1, 1918 in Jonesboro, Indiana, she was the daughter of Ellis Joseph and Nellie Matilda (Ailman) Clifford. Mrs. Walburn was retired secretary in the publication department of Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. She was a member of the Madison Presbyterian Church, the Women's Army Corp, and the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Zeta Tau Chapter. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, painting, Crossword puzzles, and listening to music. She was also an avid reader. Survivors include three daughters: Phyllis Hawkins and her husband, Fred of Aiken, South Carolina, Sharon Neal and Barbara Walburn, both of Hanover; four grandchildren: Dr. Geoff Walburn and Abby Walburn both of Madison, Emily Neal of Aiken, South Carolina and Erin Neal of Evans, Georgia; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by hr parents; her husband, Rex R. Walburn, to whom she was married on April 1, 1944 in Gas City, Indiana; one sister, Ruth Ann Clifford; and one son, John Walburn. The Reverend Michelle Bartel will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Monday, July 11, 2011 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana on Tuesday, July 12. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 3 to 6 PM on Sunday, July 10, 2011 and from 10 to 11 AM on Monday. The family requests contributions in memory of Mrs. Walburn be made to the Madison Presbyterian Church or the Jefferson County Humane Society.
