Obituary

Life story Mrs. Pansy B. (McCreary) Stackhouse, 95, of Madison, Indiana passed away at 4:25 pm, on Sunday, September, 2004 at the King's Daughters' Hospital. Born April 8, 1909 in Ethridge, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Albert and Mary E. (Bladen) McCreary. Her mother passed away in April 1943 and her father in April 1951. She was united in marriage to Gail Stackhouse on July 5, 1929. He also preceded her in death on January 29, 1996. Mrs. Stackhouse moved to Madison from Dupont, Indiana where she lived for many years. She retired from the Jefferson Proving Ground where she was a cook, earning an award from the colonel. She cooked as well for the former Dupont High School. She was a longtime member of the former Middlefork Christian Church. After moving to the Waters of Clifty Falls she attended the Senior Citizens Prom and was crowned Queen. Mrs. Stackhouse is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and Marcella Stackhouse of Dupont, and David and Betty Stackhouse of Dupont; two daughters: Cathy Shepherd and her husband Bill of Lexington, Indiana, and Dorothy Graves of Milton, Kentucky; twenty grandchildren: Linda, Larry, Karen, Susie, Eddie, Ned, Lisa, Trina, Donna, Pam, Christie, Robby, Tina, John, Ricky, Mike, Kim, Trish, Tammy and Pam; forty two great-grandchildren; sixteen great-great-grandchildren; and two sons-in-law, Bob Mills and Freeman Garett. In addition to her parents and husband, Pansy was preceded in death by a son, Donald Stackhouse; three daughters, Shirley Mills, Mary Ann Garett, Leona Bellamy; an infant daughter, Margaret; a granddaughter, Debbie Garett; two sisters, Hallie Williams and Mamie Beach Bowers; two brothers, Herbert and Willie McCreary; and a son-in-law, Odell Graves. The Reverend Logan Fugate and The Reverend Larry Jameison will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM EST on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at the Fairmount Cemetery. Friends and family may gather from 4:00 to 8:00 PM EST on Tuesday, September 14, 2004 and from 12:00 Noon until time of service on Wednesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Waters of Clifty Falls Activity Fund. Cards are available at the funeral home.
