Life story Patricia G. Hereford, age 57, of Marion, Illinois, formerly of Madison, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2010 at her residence. Born March 30, 1953 in Madison, she was the daughter of Jack A. and Delsie Richmond Hereford. She owned and operated the former Hereford Motor Lodge/Best Western, the Nex-Dor Restaurant, Rivercrest Marina and its luxury Rivercrest Condominiums, and the Clean Machine Car Wash on Clifty Drive for many years. She was a member and past president of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber's Foundation, Madison Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, Jefferson County Board of Tourism, Indiana Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Indiana Small Business Development Corporation Board, Madison Regatta, Girls, Inc. Board, the United Way and the former Madison Country Club and a former member of the Madison Elks Lodge. She was awarded the 1999 Sam Walton Business Leader Award; the Turning Point Award in recognition of support of services to victims of domestic violence; the 25 Year Achievement Award for continued growth and customer satisfaction from 1975 - 2000 for Hereford Motor Lodge, Inc.; selected as an honored member in the 1998 publication of Who's Who Among Outstanding Corporate Executives; Her service to the community also was reflected in the many appointments on city-related task forces and especially the time she served on the Madison Redevelopment Commission (TIF Board). While in Marion, she was a member of the Marion Civic Center Board. She was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her husband, Nick Turner, to whom she was married on November 30, 2002 in Madison; her mother of Madison; one sister, Jacque Thacker, Madison; one step-son, Cody Turner, Madison; one nephew, Brent Thacker, Madison, and one niece, A.J. Lobb, Madison. Preceding her in death was her father, Jack Hereford on April 28, 1991. Memorial services will be conducted by Mr. Dave Brown at 8:00 PM Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Friday. The family request expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of South Illinois, 204 Halfway Road, Marion, Illinois 62959 or the Jefferson County, Indiana Humane Society.
