Life story Mr. Paul B. Garrett, age 69, of Deputy, Indiana, passed away on Friday, October 16, 2015 at the Waters of Clifty Falls in Madison. He was born on April 22, 1946 in Vevay, Indiana, the son of Bill and Mary (Harlow) Garrett. Mr. Garrett was a 1964 graduate of Vevay High School and a member of the Spring Branch Baptist Church in Vevay. He served in the U.S. Army during the View Nam era. He was a professional truck driver, owning and operating his own trucking company for many years. He had also worked for Cummins Diesel in Columbus, Indiana, and was a carpenter who built a beautiful log home on his farm near Deputy. He was a member of the Jefferson Post #9 of the American Legion, the VFW Post #1929 and the Moose Lodge, all of Madison. Among his interests were fishing, playing the guitar and singing country songs at family gatherings. He enjoyed gardening, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and watching old westerns on TV. He always had a way of saying something humorous to liven up the mood. Survivors include three sons: Bart Garrett of Greensburg, Indiana, Troy Pavy of Fishers, Indiana, and John Garrett of Marion, Indiana; one daughter, Tanda Garrett Craig, Marion; four sisters: Judy Purkey of Harrisonville, Missouri, Peggy Blaney of Madison and Nancy Harmon and Sue Beverly, both of Bedford, Kentucky; three brothers: Alan Garrett and his wife, Debbie of Madison, Nathan Garrett of Vevay, and Billy Garrett and his wife, Reva of Shelbyville, Indiana; his friend, Ron Blaney of Madison; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Paula Michelle in 2013; two brothers: Kenneth W. Garrett, Sr. and Julian Garrett; one sister, Evelyn Stewart; and his son Bart's mother, Judy Ellen Hardwick. The Reverend Aaron Adams will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Lytle Funeral Home, Main Street, with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens. The Honor Guard of the American Legion, Jefferson Post #9 will conduct military rites at the graveside. Friends and family may call at Lytle Funeral Homes, Main Street, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Tuesday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Wounded Warriors Project.
