Penny Irene Vanegas, age 57, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Phillip Atkins, was born on December 13, 1963, in Salem, Indiana. She attended culinary school to obtain her associate's degree and had been employed at McDonald's in Hanover and Madison since 2003. In her spare time, she enjoyed hunting rocks, fishing, cooking, being outdoors, and spending time with her family. She loved to smile and had a personality that could make everyone's day better. Ms. Vanegas passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana.

Her life will be cherished by her sons: D. Mitchell Atkins and his wife, Trista of Lexington, Indiana and Jesse Ray Atkins of Madison; her grandchildren: Darrell Atkins, Jr. and Joi Atkins, both of Lexington; and her sister: Darlene Sizemore of Madison.
