Life story Mr. Ralph O'Neal Smith, Sr., age 61, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2011 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born June 12, 1949 in Ripley County, Missouri, he was the son of Perry and Flossie (Baker) Smith. Mr. Smith was a former meat cutter and grocery store manager, and had been employed with Grote Manufacturing in Madison. Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda J. Edwards of Madison; one son, Ralph O'Neal Smith, Jr. of Madison; three sisters: Ruby Gilmore, Ethel Mae Mossman and Ruth Ann Haney; his companion, Wannetta "Sissy" Torres of Madison; three stepdaughters: Jessica Graham-Gatliff, Amanda Graham and Elizabeth Graham, all of Madison; and four grandchildren: Savannah and Anthony Edwards, Faith Reed and Bryson Smith, all of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers. Memorial services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the Salvation Army Chapel in Madison. Friends and family may call at the Salvation Arrmy Chapel from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Ralph Smith Memorial Fund, care of Lytle Funeral Chapel.
