Life story Ray Edward Beavers, age 77, of Madison, passed away on April 6, 2008 at the Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg, Indiana. Born December 31, 1930 in Cedar Bluff, Virginia, he was the son of Rufus Sherman and Lona Belle (Fuller) Beavers. Mr. Beavers graduated from Richlands High School in Richlands, VA and attended Bluefield Business College in Bluefield, WV. He entered the United States Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He moved to Silver Springs, Maryland where worked at the Walter M. Ballard Co. from 1958-1990 and retired from Visual Systems in 1992 as a manager. He was a former member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Washington, DC and enjoyed reading, walking and caring for his cats. Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law: Alfred Curtis and Vivian Beavers, Sr. and Billy Kyle and Paula Beavers, all of Cedar Bluff, VA; three sisters: Betty Jo Eversburg of Alexandria, VA, Velma Jean Cormier and her husband, Joe of Covington, VA and Phyllis Lorene O'Quin and her husband, Oakie of Tazewell, VA; two special friends, Jim McConchie and John Everett; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Peggy Ann Beavers; and three brothers: Clyde Ezra, Danny Douglas, Sr., and Kenneth Ronald Beavers. Memorial services will be conducted by Reverend Robert Leach at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday April 12, 2008 at the Lowe-Beavers Cemetery in Cedar Bluff, VA.
