Life story Mr. Richard Benton "Rabbit" Bumen, age 66, of Madison, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. Born July 16, 1945 in Madison, he was the son of Richard John and Elizabeth Merle Mitchell Bumen. Mr. Bumen was a lifelong resident of Madison, and attended Dupont High School. He began his working career at age 21 with the former Reliance Electric Company and worked there until his retirement at age 62 in June 2008. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and the National Muzzle-Loading Rifle Association, and enjoyed collecting knives and re-enacting Civil War events. Survivors include one sister, Sharon Bumen of Madison; one niece, Michelle Bumen of Raleigh, North Carolina; and one nephew, Richie Drake. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Sue Ann Bumen Drake. The Reverend Frank J. McGee will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Hebron Cemetery. Friends may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 PM Friday, April 20, 2012 and from 10 to 11 AM Saturday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Historic Madison, Inc.
