Obituary

Life story Mr. Robert E. Stakelin, age 71, of Madison, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2004 at his residence. He was born November 21, 1932 in Cynthiana, Kentucky, the son of Charles Joseph and Ella Mae Reynolds Stakelin. Mr. Stakelin retired as a machine shop operator at the Jefferson Proving Ground after many years of service. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning two Bronze Stars and the Korean Service medal. His memberships included Jefferson Post #9, American Legion and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Post #1969, both in Madison. He loved nature, including fishing and hunting. Survivors include his mother, Ella Mae Reynolds of Cynthiana, Kentucky; two daughters: Angela Blevins of Escanaba, Michigan and Kim Mahoney of Madison; three sons: Jeff Stakelin of Milton, Kentucky, John Stakelin of Madison, and Michael Stakelin of Hanover; one brother, Charles Stakelin of Lexington, Indiana; five step-daughters; eleven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Joseph Stakelin; his first wife, Annette Stakelin; his second wife, Rachel Stakelin; two daughters: Cathy Ann Stakelin and Julie Kay Stakelin; and one brother, Charles Joseph Stakelin. The Reverend Troy Hedges will conduct funeral services at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel, with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens. The Honor Guard of Jefferson Post #9, American Legion will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday, and from 11:00 A.M. until time of services on Tuesday. The family requests that donations in memory of Mr. Stakelin be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
