Life story Ronald E. Parton, age 75, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born on February 8, 1939 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the son of Donald and Bernetta (Bossons) Parton. Mr. Parton was a graduate of Smith Tech High School in Syracuse, New York, and moved to Madison in 1994. He was a supervisor for several trucking firms, including P.I.E. in Maryland, where he resided, for twenty-two years and the Tiger Truck Lines in New Albany, Indiana, where he retired in 2006. For five years while residing in Maryland, he and his wife were certified to care for mentally and physically disabled persons, which they did in their home. He also worked for the Kroger Company in Madison for a short time. He was a member of the Nabb Presbyterian Church, and a former member of Madison Presbyterian Church and its Session. He also enjoyed woodworking. Survivors include his wife, the former Harriette Oram, to whom he was married on February 11, 1989 in Hagerstown, Maryland; one son, Ronald Parton, Jr. of Marcy, New York; two daughters: Christine Parton and Julie Parton, both of Syracuse; one step-son, Michael Powers of Cross Junction, Virginia; three step-daughters: Michelle Powers of Syracuse, Rebecca Kemp of Utica, New York, and Wendy Sue Kelly of Bluffton, South Carolina; two brothers: Richard Parton of Fullerton, California and James Parton of LaFayette, New York; one sister, Patti Johnson of Liverpool, New York; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Reverend Scott Hookey and the Reverend Mike Beaver will conduct memorial services at 4:30 PM Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the Madison Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at a later date in Point Rock, New York. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Madison Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or Deacon's Fund, or Nabb Presbyterian Church.
