Life story Roy P. Bodem, age 94, of Murphy, North Carolina, formerly of Madison, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 in a Murphy care facility. Born in Madison, he was the son of Peter and Barbara Yiesla Bodem. He had lived in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida before moving to Cherokee County, North Carolina in 1980. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Air Corps. He had worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft as a technician, and was a member of the Saint William Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, the former Jane King, who died July 16, 2011. Surviving are a son, John Bodem and his wife, Rita, of Centralia, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Tiffany Bodem and John Anthony Bodem. Private interment will be at a later date at Saint Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Madison. Lytle Funeral Chapel, Madison, is in charge of local arrangements.
