Life story Ruthann Clifford, age 89, of Hanover, Indiana passed away at 10:50 P.M. on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at her residence. Born November 16, 1915 in Jonesboro, Indiana, she was the daughter of Ellis J. and Nelly Ailman Clifford, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Clifford graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1934. She retired in 1977 as a clerk in the Canteen of the VA Hospital in Marion, Indiana. She had formerly owned the former Pat's Grill in Jonesboro. She came to Madison in 2002 with her sister. She was a volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and a member of Madison Presbyterian Church. She loved gardening, tending her roses and especially crossword puzzles. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school for several years. Survivors include a sister, Norma Walburn of Madison; a nephew, John Walburn and wife, Mitzi, of Hanover; three nieces: Phyllis Hawkins and husband, Fred, of Aiken, SC, Sharon Neal of Aiken, SC, and Barbara Walburn of Madison; a great-nephew, Geoff Walburn and wife, Kelly, of Hanover; three great-nieces, Emily Bellamy and husband, John, Erin Neal, and Abby Walburn; a great-great-nephew, Phoenix Neal; and a great-great-niece, Miette Bellamy. The Reverend Mark Porter will conduct funeral services at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday April 13, 2005 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery on Thursday. Friends and family may call at Lytle Funeral Chapel from 5 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 and after 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Madison Presbyterian Church. Cards will be available at the funeral home.
