Life story Sandra J. Sumner, age 73, of Madison, Indiana, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Hickory Creek in Madison. Sandy, as everyone knew her, was born August 10, 1938 in Cross Plains, Indiana. She graduated from Madison High School mid-term in 1956-57. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Michelle Lawrence Von Fange and Husband Curt of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Gina Lawrence Freeman of Madison, Indiana, Anita Lawrence Davidson of Madison, Indiana, Amy Sumner Hall and husband Don of Cabot, Arkansas and Debbra Sumner Darbro of Cabot, Arkansas. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was a sister to Glenn Ringwald deceased and a daughter to Delbert Ringwald and Mary Voris Ringwald also deceased. Sandy worked at the Joyce Shoe Factory for 26 years only missing work once due to illness. She also worked at Danners Department Store as an assistant manager in the clothing department and at Ponderosa. She was very active in the community and served as a 4-H leader, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader and was a choir member at Trinity United Methodist Church where she received her confirmation and was baptized. Sandy struggled with Parkinson's disease for some twenty years but did not let it deter her from being an active part of her families activities. She could be seen at numerous community activities along with her children and grandchildren as she would often attend ballgames, swim meets, graduations and celebrations in support of her family. She was also an avid bowler and state high school champion for MHS. She was a devoted mother and will be sadly missed by friends and family. Memorial service will be conducted next Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Madison Presbyterian Church. Family and friends may gather from 10 AM until time of service at the church. The family requests memorial contribtuions be made to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Jefferson County. Memorial envelopes are availalbe at the fuenral home and church.
