Life story Mrs. Shelba J. (Wingham) Melton, 68, of Madison, passed away at 11:56 PM Friday, July 21, 2006 at her home. Born February 19, 1938 in Trimble County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Delmar and Hazel (Hood) Wingham. She was united in marriage to Donald E. Melton August 29, 1953 at the St. John's Evangelical Church. She and Donald moved to Madison following their marriage. In 1978, she opened the Milton drive-in restaurant. She also cooked at the Sigma Chi fraternity, Clifty Inn, and Milton Country Inn. She cooked and managed the kitchen for the V.F.W. for a number of years and owned and operated Shelba's Donuts and More in Hanover until her retirement in 1999. After retiring, she joined her husband to deliver papers. While she was known for her cooking, she also enjoyed crafts, tolle painting, crocheting, knitting, and making wedding cakes and floral arrangements. She even had a gift shop in the side porch of her house named the Blue Goose Gift Shop. She especially loved listening to country music with her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Donald; three daughters: Terri (Melton) Chirchirilla and her husband, Dean of Madison, Pam Marsh of Madison, and Cathy Bray and her husband, Stan of Milton, Kentucky; a sister, Joann Imel of Bedford, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Betty Wingham of Madison; seventeen grandchildren, Michelle Smith, Brandi Swint, Joshua Abbott, Dustin Abbott, Nina Pangeric, Theresa, Dean, Jr., Anna, Sara, David, Danny, and Gena Chirchirilla, Dana McDuffy, Amanda Marsh, Kaylan Morgan, Casi Bray, and Jarrett Bray and nineteen great grandchildren; and her beloved pets, Misty and Eddie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Buddy Ray, Bradford Barkley, and Bobby Grove Wingham; and her step-mother, Helen Jones Wingham. The Reverend Richard Jankowski will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may call from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday and after 9 AM Wednesday at the Lytle Funeral Chapel in downtown Madison. The family requests expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice of King's Daughters' Hospital.
