Sherry Ann Beatty was born in Madison, Indiana on June 8, 1949, to Thelma Beatty. She was the oldest of three children born to Thelma. Sherry attended Madison Consolidated High School, Madison, Indiana in 1966 and Spencerian Business College, Louisville, Kentucky in 1971. She worked for the Social Security Board for about five years, School District 163 for five years, and the Internal Revenue Service as a secretary for 35 years. Sherry Ann was a foster mom to many; an adoptive mom to two (Anthony & Jivini) and a guardian to one (Latisha). She was married to Lance Williams I and to that union, Lance Williams II was born. Sherry accepted Christ initially as a Methodist, but later joined and rededicated her life to Christ at New Life Baptist Church, Chicago Heights, Illinois under the leadership of Pastor Scott Reese. Sherry loved to travel, whether by bus to the flea market or cruising on the open sea. She also was an avid reader of romance novels and maintained bookshelves full of Harlequin Novels. Her favorite song was "Sherry Baby" by the Four Seasons. Sherry had a big heart and a beautiful smile. Sherry left us too soon on Sunday, September 8, 2024. She is preceded in death by her mother, Thelma; her sister, Roz; her brother, Keith; and her guardian daughter, Latisha. Sherry leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Lance Willliams, Jivini Hayes-Williams and Anthony of Southern Illinois; Grandson Kaleb of Atlanta, Georgia; Granddaughter Kalea; two uncles: Jimmy (Joyce) Lewis of Lafayette, IN; Uncle Bake of Madison, IN; one niece Tiffany Logston of Louisville, KY; her best friend Juanita White and a host of cousins and friends. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Springdale Cemetery, 600 West Fifth Street, Madison, Indiana with interment to follow. Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.
